WIC Pilot Project in Northern Somalia:

We have an amazing opportunity here to pave the way for a long term presence in this village. We've already set up a program to have our teachers come and teach short courses in the local school. Bridges are being built as friendships are being forged while we live and work daily in the desert of Northern Somalia.

UPDATE:
The dry and thirsty land in NE Kenya is inhabited almost entirely by Muslims in desperate need of hearing the promise of LIFE giving water.
Water Initiatives Kenya (WIK)is drilling for water and preparing the soil to one day reap a harvest.
The Bore Hole is completely dug and cased. The pump and storage tanks are being completed.
And, we are planning a one day medical clinic for the community.

UPDATE:
The bore hole in NE Kenya has been completed and on Oct 27-29, we will be leading a team to go and do a medical clinic and handover ceremony of the borehole.

There is clean, fresh water coming from 150 meters below.

The people and animals will no longer have to drink from collections of diseased filled rain water. This year, they will have clean water to sustain them through the dry times. Praise God!

UPDATE:
Thank You for praying for the successful drilling of the boreholes and the subsequent handover ceremony!

The water situation had become severe and the nearby rain water catchment pond had indeed dried up.

But, the water from the borehole is flowing into huge tanks and supplying thousands of people and animals with fresh clean water.

The "hand over" ceremony gave us an opportunity to communicate our love and compassion for all people of Christ. We were very well received and took the opportunity to publicly acknowledge God's provision and even offer a prayer of thanks.

The door to a very closed community is now wide open for future ministry opportunities!

UPDATE:
Since returning to the site we have drilled to 225 meters! There are concerns with this project because they have exceeded their surveyed depth and have very little water coming up. It's possible that there is more water in the borehole than they are getting at the top with air lift but the only way to know for sure is to case the hole and install a pump. A decision by the board will need to be made for this because if the pump is installed and there is still little or no water, the casing will be in waste.
